I had the pleasure of participating in the ALL VINYL EVERYTHING event a few weeks ago in Atlanta. The homie Dj Dibiase organized the event and I must say, it was a smash hit with some of ATL's seasoned spinners leaving the Serato and the computers home. Everyone broke out the dusty vinyl and the night was filled with great tunes. We also had the legendary Kool Dj Red Alert bless us with a set from his vinyl vault. That Was You? is the title of the latest release from this beast of an mc known to the world as StaHHr. That Was You? is the perfect fit for this project. I have my own personal story that relates to this title. Lets just say that I also asked if (That Was You?) upon meeting her back in 2008. StaHHr is the ill female spittin on the track Guinnessez from MF Doom's MM Food album which happens to be one of the greatest Hip Hop albums of all time in my opinion. StaHHr also appeared on the track Next Level from King Geedorah's Take me to your leader album. She has released a slew of tracks since then and has appeared on tracks with some of Hip Hop's heavy weight spitters such as MF Doom, J-Live, John Robinson and Homeboy Sandman just to name a few. Seems like it was just yesterday when I bought 2 copies of the N.E.R.D.| Lapdance single on vinyl when it was first released. Time flies and look at the mark The Neptunes have left on the music scene. I've been wanting to do this Neptunes mix for a long, long, long time so I finally decided to go in on it. If you haven't heard, The Neptunes catalog is quite extensive. I will be posting several chapters of this tribute due to the fact that their catalog is that extensive.
